The candidate must be comfortable working in complex, enterprise environments. The Data Center team focuses on technologies found within an organizations core computing infrastructure; including, but not limited to server & SAN provisioning, mirroring or replication, enterprise backup solutions, and business continuity / disaster recovery environments. The Data Center team concentrates on the following technologies; Servers, Storage (iSCSI, FiberChannel, FCOE, NFS, etc.) VMWare, Hyper-V, Citrix, and Microsoft Server Solutions (SQL, Exchange, Lync, etc.)
The Sr. Data Center Engineer will report to the Data Center Practice Leader and will be tasked with assisting in the design, architecture, implementation, security and support of mid-sized to large multi-site data center environments that involve server, storage, and virtualization technologies that mesh with clients business requirements. The candidate will assist business development and the Data Center Practice Lead with development of future state (Data Center/Storage/Server/Virtualization) systems and designs. Additionally, the Sr. Data Center Engineer will act as a technical lead in the deployment of the solution, providing project updates and identifying change requests within the deployment lifecycle. Finally, the Sr. Data Center Engineer will assist in the implementation of industry best practices for data center engagements to ensure client investment in technology is consistent with their business objectives and that the proposed projects are executed successfully. The candidate will fill a Subject Matter Expert (SME) role for data center projects and should have specializations in one or more of the following areas; storage, Cisco UCS, Enterprise Backup & Recovery, Server & Desktop Virtualization and Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery.
5 or more years industry experience
Has minimum of 2 major industry certifications (VMware, Microsoft, NetApp, EMC, Commvault, etc.)
Can act as a technical lead for large server/storage/virtualization enterprise projects
Can troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and provide solutions to complex server, storage, and virtualization hardware/software problems.
Strong documentation skills
Can develop customer relationships
Understands different vendor solutions
Has excellent customer service skills
Has 5 or more years designing and implementing complex data center environments.
Travel requirements up to 40%
Professional, business-focused attitude and courteous manner towards clients, partners, and peers
Comprehensive knowledge and hands on experience with two or more of the following Data Center focus areas:
1) Microsoft Server Environment (Windows Server OS, Exchange Server, SQL Server, Active Directory)
2) Storage Environment (NetApp, EMC, Nimble, Fiber-Channel, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS)
3) Networking Environment (Cisco, Juniper, Nexus, ASA, ACE, F5)
4) Server Environment (Cisco UCS, HP, Dell, IBM)
5) Virtualization Environment (VMWare, Hyper-V, Citrix)
6) Enterprise Backup & Recovery (Commvault, SnapMirror, Recover Point, Site Recovery Manager, Zerto)
Strong experience in designing, implementing and supporting highly available, redundant solutions for large enterprise data center engagements with 100-500 virtual servers in a multi-site environment.
Other Responsibilities -
Assisting with the design and implementation of data center solutions involving any or all of the following technologies: server, storage, virtualization, security, LAN design.
Working with project managers to develop detailed business requirements, project plans and the successful completion of the project.
Executing industry best practices in data center deployments, integration, testing, and packaging of infrastructure documentation and application solutions.
Directing junior level engineers in efforts needed to complete projects.
