Most Popular Cameras in the Flickr Community - June 6th, 2011 That's right. The iPhone 4 is now reigning as the most popular camera on Flickr, a position once firmly held by Nikon D90. The other three cameras in the top five are all Canon EOS DSLRs. Rankings are determined by "the number of Flickr members who have uploaded at least one photo or video with a particular camera on a given day over the last year." As of Sunday, the iPhone 4 had 5,081 users, leading the Nikon D90's by 230. However, in terms of number of photographs uploaded, the iPhone 4 still lagging, with just over 56,000, compared to the Nikon D90's 81,000. The iPhone 4 was released only a year ago. It's up for debate whether it's the best smartphone camera, but there's no doubt the ease and convenience of uploading helped it defeat even some of the most popular DSLRs, which are mostly stagnating. While older iPhone models and the iPod touch probably don't have a chance to be on Flickr's list, they're all listed as "Popular Cameraphones." The only non-Apple device on the list is HTC's Evo 4G, ranked fourth, a place ahead of the iPod touch. Before Apple and Android fanboys start a flame war, it's important to note that Android has way more devices in the market than Apple. There are new Android devices being announced almost every other month -- while new iPhones are announced only once a year. Another interesting discovery: a rising star in the point and shoot category. While all other point and shoot cameras are nosediving, Canon PowerShot S95 soared to the top spot in less than a year. All top five point and shoot cameras are from Canon's PowerShot series. Popular Point and shoot cameras - Popular Cameraphones Source: Flickr
