IT professionals and South Florida businesses see a continued turnaround in local technology hiring and salaries, according to a survey by Miami-based staffing company SherlockTech Staffing. Thumbs UpSome 61 percent of the companies surveyed said they plan to hire additional technology staff during 2014. That compares with 57 percent this year. For the most in-demand skills, average starting salaries will increase 10 to 18 percent, the survey said. Those include enterprise-level mobile application developers, cloud infrastructure engineers and IT security analysts. The survey also found increased optimism among local IT professionals. Sixty nine percent said they were open to new opportunities, up from 16 percent in 2011 and 67 percent last year. They seem to be taking advantage of those opportunities, too. SherlockTech CEO Alex Funkhouser says that he's seen turnover rates increasing significantly from the 20 percent he observed during the height of the recession.
