Lockheed Martin's Missiles and Fire Control business area is an exciting place to work, and a rewarding place grow your career. We are looking to hire an Electro-optical Design Engineer at our campus in Grand Prairie, TX
-In this exciting role the EO/IR Engineer will have the opportunity to perform optical design trade studies, refine the IR seeker optical prescription, conduct IR seeker performance analyses, develop requirements and test procedures, work with structural, thermal, mechanical, and electrical engineers to refine the performance, calibrate, test, and integrate the seeker in the missile in support of flight testing. Travel is required because seeker integration is in Huntsville AL.
-The engineer will perform analyses and trade studies on the seeker optical design to include the missile window assembly to support IR seeker and optical requirements flow-down, tolerances, and environmental effects on IR seeker performance, and support the program through the SRR and PDR phases.
-The engineer will have the opportunity to support stray light analysis.
-The engineer will wok with mechanical engineers to develop and review drawings.
-The engineer will develop alignment concepts, alignment procedures, and special test tools as necessary. The ideal candidate will have proficiency with standard toolsets for optical design and analysis required such as Code V, Zemax, and FRED.
- The engineer will manage seeker suppliers for optical system, window, and sensor components/subsystems.
-The engineer will collaborate with cross functional teams with other engineering disciplines for seeker integration
-The engineer will have the opportunity to attend industry conferences and to keep up-to-date on related industry best practices and technological advancements.

The Locale: Grand Prairie is part of the "Mid-Cities" region in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex which is in the North Central region of Texas. Grand Prairie is a suburb of both Dallas and Fort Worth. The region offers a great cost of living combined with a robust economy and a pleasant climate. This North Central region of Texas is a great place to live and to raise a family. The region is home to numerous colleges and universities to include University of Texas at Dallas, University of Texas at Arlington, University of North Texas, Southern Methodist University, and Texas Woman's University. Basic Qualifications:
• Development and Laboratory experience with IR Missile seekers, optical systems, and optical components, including understanding of measurement techniques, test equipment and devices, expected outcomes, and data analysis.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Optics or closely related field with 9 years of professional experience, or 7 years of professional experience with a related Master's degree in Optics or closely related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of optical design, development, and test
• Demonstrated knowledge of IR missile seeker design, development, and test
• Experience with Code V and/or Zemax ray tracing tools
• Experience with Matlab
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. This includes presentations to customers and program management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to estimate, plan and status activities.
• Proximity to Dallas TX for periodic attendance on-site in our Dallas laboratories for optical system and IR seeker assembly, test, and characterization.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
Desired Skills:
-Active Secret Clearance or higher
-Proficient in COMSOL, Lumerical, LightTools, and / or CAD Software such as PTC Creo.
-Proficient in programming and data analysis using MATLAB and MS Excel.
-Experience with radiometric, laser and networking measurements, and data analysis.
-Experience with gimbaled optical systems
-Familiarity with IR system analysis tools such as NVESD NV-IPM
