Position: Business Intelligence (BI) Developer
Location: West Sacramento, CA (Hybrid 2 3 days onsite per week)

Overview
A large state agency is seeking an experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to support enterprise data analytics, reporting, and AI-driven insights. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Power BI, SQL, Snowflake/Redshift, and integrating Machine Learning or Generative AI into BI solutions.
This is a long-term engagement contributing to high-impact analytics and data warehouse initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
<>Business Intelligence Development</>Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, data models, and enterprise-level reports.
Build data marts, analytical layers, and BI components to support organizational KPIs.
Work with large datasets to perform deep data analysis and optimize performance.
Write and tune complex SQL queries, views, functions, and stored procedures.
Support Snowflake or AWS Redshift development for scalable analytics solutions.
Review data models, ETL processes, data dictionaries, and integration workflows.
Integrate Generative AI into BI to produce automated insights, narratives, and recommendations.
Build predictive analytics and trend forecasting models using AI/ML techniques.
Work with data architects, analysts, SMEs, and business teams to gather requirements.
Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications.
Lead functional testing, validation, and BI release certification.
Prepare documentation, dashboards, weekly reports, and visual analytics artifacts.
Support data governance, security, and industry best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following:
2+ years of hands-on experience with Machine Learning or Generative AI in analytics.
5+ years of Power BI development (dashboards, data modeling, DAX).
5+ years of SQL development and performance tuning.
3+ years working with Snowflake or AWS Redshift.
Ability to work onsite 2 3 days per week as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience working in state government, financial, or other regulated environments.
Strong experience with Power BI DAX, advanced modeling, and enterprise reporting.
Familiarity with Agile, SDLC, and enterprise data warehouse environments.
