Job Title: Software Quality Assurance Specialist

Reports to: Department Manager

Job Type: Full-Time

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday, standard business hours.

Location: 2831 Research Drive, Rochester Hills, MI 48309

Work is primarily remote but some onsite work may be required. Return to work date and protocol have not been determined at this time.  

The Software Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is an essential member of the development team as they are involved in all of the stages of the software development life cycle. They also must conduct tests to ensure top-quality software is released. This position requires strong attention to detail and great communication skills in order to maintain an efficient QA process.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Participate in all stages of the software development life cycle and testing to ensure release of high quality software

  • Conduct thorough and accurate testing of client/server and web-based applications and backend processes

  • Establish standards and procedures for QA

  • Design, implement, and execute manual test cases and plans based on product functional specifications using multiple test methodologies and use cases

  • Identify test cases based on various scenarios and use cases for both happy and sad path testing

  • Design, implement, and execute automated test cases for repeatable test cases and evaluate results

  • Design, implement, and execute custom software testing utilities, scripts, and procedures (database or otherwise) based on unique requirements of the DPC applications

  • Analyze software issues to determine root causes and provide detailed reports or enhancement suggestions to the developers

  • Document software defects in the issue-tracking system and proactively communicate with software developers

  • Assist with reviewing and editing test case scripts and writing queries

  • Partner with developers and the client in the identification of new procedures, methods, and/or tools to improve the efficiency of the QA process

  • Assist in the design and requirements for new functionality

 

What makes you qualified:

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 3 years of experience in QA

  • Solid understanding of QA testing methodologies and practices

  • Understanding of relational databases and SQL scripting

  • Experience with automated testing software and technologies such as Selenium, Watir, and JMeter

  • Experience with integrating automated tests with continuous build systems

  • Keen attention to detail and strong planning, organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to identify, record, and report software issues

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to maintain a test environment effectively with regard to products, tools, data, and technologies

 

What makes you an All-Star:

  • 8 years of experience in QA

  • Experience in testing automotive applications

  • Knowledge of diagnostic protocols and data exchange mechanisms

  • A set work schedule will be provided, but some flexibility is required as hours may vary due to need

  • Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required

  • Physical demands: Non-strenuous with low risk; primarily sedentary with some walking, standing, and carrying of light objects; Adequately lighted, ventilated and climate-controlled area where normal precautions must be observed

  • Work environment: Work is generally performed within a normal office environment using standard office equipment; Moderate noise typical of a business office; Travel for company business may be required to attend off-site meetings, etc; May require early morning, night and weekend work assignments; Interaction with contracted providers, staff and vendors by phone and face-to-face will be constant and may be disruptive: Work may be stressful at times.
