About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced IT Operations Manager with a strong background in the utilities industry to lead our IT operations supporting the utility business. You will ensure the stability, performance and scalability of our IT infrastructure, oversee vendor relationships, align IT operations with our utility domain objectives, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day IT operations: infrastructure (servers, network, cloud), systems availability, and support services.
- Lead and develop the IT operations team: define roles, monitor performance, promote accountability.
- Oversee vendor contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) relevant to IT operations in a utility environment.
- Monitor operational metrics (uptime, incident resolution, cost, etc.), identify improvement opportunities, implement process enhancements.
- Collaborate with business units (transmission/distribution, field operations, regulatory) to ensure IT operations support utility goals.
- Ensure IT operations comply with industry regulations, cybersecurity standards, business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.
- Drive technology refreshes, cloud migrations or hybrid solutions aligned with utility domain needs.
- Manage operational budget, resources, and support scalability for future growth.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years' experience in IT operations management, preferably in the utilities / electric transmission-distribution domain.
- Proven leadership of IT teams and vendor-managed operations.
- Strong technical knowledge: infrastructure (on-prem & cloud), networks, servers, virtualization, backup/disaster recovery.
- Experience aligning IT operations with business outcomes in a regulated environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Familiarity with utility industry operations, standards and regulatory environment is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or similar.
- Experience with electric utility IT operations (distribution/transmission systems support).
- Experience managing hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS) and infrastructure scaling.
- Experience with outage management, field operations IT support, or utility-specific systems.
