Job Details
We are seeking a highly experienced iSeries SYNON / COBOL AS400 Developer for a contract role in Schaumburg, IL. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AS400 Mid-Range Systems, Synon (CA/2E), and COBOL/400, along with strong functional knowledge of Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) operations.
This role involves hands-on development, team leadership, and collaboration with business and capability teams to deliver robust, scalable, and efficient solutions.Key Responsibilities:

- Analyze and interpret functional and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with business and capability teams to refine requirements.
- Perform hands-on development using CA/2E (Synon), COBOL/400, CLLE, and SQL.
- Lead a cross-functional onshore/offshore development team.
- Work closely with client stakeholders for requirement clarifications and solution discussions.
- Enhance system performance through application optimization and fine-tuning.
- Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and sprint activities.
- Provide technical mentorship and contribute to the team s technology roadmap.
- Ensure compliance with PBM industry standards, MED D pricing, benefit plan, patient pay, and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize ACMS/MOM and DB2/400 to support application development and data management.
- 15+ years hands-on experience in CA/2E (Synon) programming, array handling, commit control.
- 8+ years experience with COBOL/400, COBOL ILE, and CLLE development.
- Strong exposure to AS400 Mid-Range systems and DB2/400.
- Experience with ACMS/MOM environments.
- Deep functional knowledge in core PBM processes adjudication, pricing, accumulators, MED D pricing, benefit plan, patient pay, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and onshore-offshore models.
- Prior experience in healthcare or PBM domain.
- Leadership experience in guiding developers and coordinating client deliverables.
- Knowledge of technology roadmap planning and continuous improvement practices.
