Job Title: Staff Systems Design Engineer

Engineering Role in Hillsboro, OR

This Systems Designer Engineer opportunity is a part of the Materials and Structural Analysis Semiconductor Business Unit located in Hillsboro, OR. We focus on providing root cause analysis and metrology solutions to the semiconductor market to help our customers develop and ramp to production their most advanced integrated circuits.

You will play an important role in developing the preeminent innovative wafer-to-atomic information workflows, enabling our semiconductor customers to make timely decisions. By accelerating the information age, you will be helping make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer!

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Assume ownership of multiple functional characteristics and/or modules of a specified system.
  • Lead system and automated process design and improvements through data-driven analysis, determining appropriate control limits and variables for specifications.
  • Guide the characterization of system performance of automated Wafer Dual Beam (WDB) microscopes or components using statistical analysis, design of experiment (DOE), and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Drive hands-on prototype electro-mechanical system integration and qualification.
  • Identification and decomposition of system into subsystem requirements.
  • Preparation of specifications, descriptions, interface control documents, software & hardware requirement documentation.
  • Coordinate with hardware and software engineering teams to design, develop, integrate, and deliver robust automated products per system specifications.
  • Develop and improve a variety of equipment including SEM, FIB, HVPS, vacuum, gas chemistry, detectors, optics, robots, electro-mechanical systems, and pneumatics.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, or Math (STEM) field (Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Controls Engineering preferred). Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree ; or 6+ years with and an advanced degree or equivalent work experience; experience developing high-performance electro-mechanical systems or subsystems used in semiconductor capital equipment or related industries.
  • Proven track record to analyze and interpret complex system data and lead system design decisions.
  • Experience leading a multi-functional team, driving collaborative and innovative solutions under fixed project schedules.
  • Proven ability and eagerness to acquire new technology skills and apply systems engineering principles and science-based innovation to address a diverse set of technological challenges.
  • Experienced at applying six sigma and performing statistical analysis and modeling.
  • Proficient at applying "robust design" and model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience with standard laboratory instrumentation, electronics, and electromechanical systems.
  • Strong analytical perspective with the flexibility to demonstrate practical decision making.
  • Excellent proactive skills with a focus on performance, prioritization, and time management.
  • Proficient and skilled in the assembly and maintenance of prototype systems involving mechanical, fluid, and electrical subsystems.
  • Proficiency with Python or other scripting language to develop automated functionality or system characterization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (oral and written).
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed (20% maximum).
