Job Summary
The IT Business Analyst conducts business process analyses, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses in an effort to align information technology (IT) solutions with business initiatives. Prepares functional, system, and program specifications. Holds a higher level of technical skills and application in their work, variation in activities, longer-term work, latitude to apply skills to solve routine problems without review, and some latitude to devise the approach and method to performing assignments. Performs routine work without supervision, seeking assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.
Hybrid work options may be available to Wisconsin residents. Work will be performed primarily on the UW-Milwaukee main, Waukesha, Washington County or other campus, with requests for remote work considered after the initial training period. Specifics regarding work location requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business analytics, computer systems, information technology, or related field by date of hire
- 3+ years of professional experience interpreting stakeholder's business goals into specific deliverables, then overseeing their technical development
- Professional work experience successfully managing departmental and enterprise services projects to completion
Preferred Qualifications
- Business Analyst (BA) and/or Project Management (PM) certification
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in business analysis and/or project management strategies, processes, and tools
- Experience analyzing data, making decisions based on analytical findings with analysis or modelling tools to identify business needs
- Experience with stakeholder management (at individual, department, and executive levels)
- Experience in gathering and developing stakeholder requirement specifications, creating process flows diagrams, and writing business and/or use case scenarios
- Demonstrated experience with PMO and BA software tools
