Pershing X Senior Specialist, Full-stack Developer

Pershing X is a new start-up unit to incubate, engineer and deliver breakthrough solutions that will transform the advisory market.

Pershing X will deliver the industry-s leading end-to-end advisory platform, helping financial service firms solve the challenge of managing multiple and disconnected technology tools and data sets for their advisors and fueling our clients- business growth.

We are a collaborative and fast-growing team working on exciting and innovative digital product offerings.
  • This role will be a engineering development backend services role working as an Agile SCRUM team member with a primary responsibility of software engineering and development with a focus on services development. This role will have end to end accountability of development, unit testing, supporting multiple test phases, deployment and also ownership of the code after releasing in production.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
  • A Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus; should have thorough knowledge of the software development cycle
  • Experience of working in services tool sets & programming languages - Java 8, Spring, Python, SQL
  • Expertise in Agile development
  • Experience in handling high volume data processing through concurrency and multi-threading techniques to build scalable, performant and resilient applications.
  • Experience and understanding of design patterns culminating into microservices development.
  • Uses existing and emerging technology platforms to design, develop and document technically detailed applications.
  • Should enjoy quick prototyping, implementing cloud-ready services, building tools to improve end to end application - develop a strong connect with the all stakeholders and testing team
  • S/he writes new complex systems (a grouping of programs involving multiple levels of table dimension and internal sorts that accomplishes a particular new function), designs and codes programs and creates test transactions. S/he also analyzes organizational needs and goals to develop and implement application systems.
  • Provides application software development services or technical support in situations of moderate complexity.
  • Will participate in the full software development life cycle - develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems. Ensure software is updated with latest features.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms. Provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Experience in using a specific application development toolkit and knowledge of backend development coding languages such as Java, Spring, Python, SQL. Must also have knowledge in application frameworks and containerization.

Good to have
  • Experience of working in UI tool sets & programming languages - Angular 11, Java script frameworks, CSS, HTML.
  • Experience and understanding of visual design / interaction design culminating into front end development.
  • Experience of working in database tool sets & programming languages - PL/SQL ( Oracle or similar ), NoSQL ( MongoDB or similar ), ETL technologies ( PySpark or similar )
  • Experience and understanding of data design patterns culminating into microservices development.
  • Experience in developing Data Pipelines to support near-realtime and event-driven messaging and data processing
  • Demonstrate team work. Leverage existing products/functionality and promote reuse.
  • Work alongside other engineers on the team to elevate technology and consistently apply best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with all the other members of the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts that the team has committed to.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineers, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions.
  • Utilize local meetups to gain and share knowledge.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $89,500 and $193,500 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
