job summary:

As a Desktop Support Technician, you will be the first point of contact for all technology needs for students and staff at a community college. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining a seamless technological environment, ensuring everyone has the tools they need to succeed. This is a hands-on position that involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of hardware and software, both in-person and remotely. You will also be responsible for supporting classroom technology and events, making sure all equipment is ready and functional.

responsibilities:


  • Provide outstanding customer service to all college staff and students.
  • Install, support, and repair computers, software, and educational technology equipment.
  • Resolve technology issues for end-users efficiently and professionally.
  • Travel to various campus locations to install, demonstrate, maintain, and repair equipment.
  • Report equipment performance deficiencies and provide feedback.
  • Coach end-users on how to use self-service options and promote independent problem-solving.
  • Deliver hands-on training and create technical support documentation for classroom systems.
  • Set up, operate, and dismantle A/V equipment for college events.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student and staff information.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and the college community.
  • Handle complaints with good reasoning and a positive attitude.
  • Work independently to manage your workload and make good decisions.


qualifications:

Required Qualifications



  • Associate degree or Certificate/Diploma in computer science or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of proven experience in Desktop Support, Audio/Visual Support, educational technology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Mac operating systems, and Adobe Flash Media Live.
  • Strong customer service skills with a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.


Preferred Qualifications



  • CompTIA A+ Certification.
  • InfoComm CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) Certification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Desktop Support, Audio/Visual Support, or a related field.
  • Prior experience supporting a higher education environment.


skills: The position requires sitting for extended periods, frequent typing and data entry, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. You must also be able to travel to different campus locations in a company vehicle. The work environment is primarily a professional office setting on campus, with occasional work in a warehouse.
