What Is the Opportunity?
Do you enjoy distilling the complexity of qualitative studies, quantitative research, and analytics into consumable patterns, findings, and design recommendations?

Or

Are you energized by the challenges of generative research, using contextual inquiry and ethnography to understand behaviors, needs and desires that can inform the ideation of a product?

If you want to track, learn about, and iterate upon enterprise, end-to-end user experiences that just work and you love to follow through on complex plans, mentor other professionals, and teach design-thinking methods to colleagues, keep reading. This just might be the role you've been looking for.

Leading in-person and remote primary research studies, in this role you collect qualitative and quantitative, formative, and evaluative, large and small feedback for analysis and action. Your research contributes to uncovering new opportunities, rapid new concept prototyping, usability testing, and experimenting with real-world offerings.

You are part of a team of experienced designers and researchers working with product managers, architects, and business and technology leaders. Fueled by your team's research insights, you tell powerful stories that help build empathy and inspire the next iteration of highly engaging experiences.
What Will You Do?
  • Design and Lead Research Efforts: You will collaborate with experience designers, product teams, and business stakeholders to articulate research questions and plan, execute, and analyze appropriate user experience research.
  • Synthesize Data to Identify Actionable Insights: You will perform rigorous analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data to turn observations into action.
  • Socialize Findings: You will distill complex analysis into compelling and easy to understand research reports and presentations. You will use storytelling and other techniques to effectively communicate findings to stakeholders and build empathy for customers.
  • Strengthen the Research Practice: You will drive the evolution of the expanding user experience research practice. You will guide and mentor less experienced design and product staff, contribute to and help lead team and practice development, and grow your own skills while advancing the user experience research function.
  • Lead the research of solutions for products and services by defining, creating, and improving models and concepts (e.g., experience goals, journey maps, information architecture, scenarios, personas, interactions) guided by established design objectives, principles, and standards.
  • Identify, plan, and execute research and testing activities to gather user experience data, evaluate the usability of solutions, and determine the effectiveness of concepts; analyze, evaluate, describe, report results and recommendations to design stakeholders.
  • Guide collaborative activities with various stakeholders (i.e., end users, other business and technology functions, and outside partners), integrating and advancing a human-centered focus that informs work through research-based insights and design exploration.
  • Identify and influence the adoption of new and improved tools, methods, and processes.
  • Guide and mentor other XD staff to support their advancement, lead and take part in team and practice development, grow leadership capacity, and help to attract high quality talent to the XD practice.
  • If managing others, set performance goals, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct standard performance reviews.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
