Position Summary

Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for providing a reliable, flexible, scalable, secure, and efficient IT infrastructure to meet current and future organizational needs. They have deep knowledge and hands-on experience in enterprise-wide platforms, and solve technical problems while working on technology initiatives. Infrastructure Engineers have strong architectural, leadership, and technical skills. They ensure delivery of high-quality artifacts, define standards and configuration for the IT infrastructure and ensure adherence to these standards. Infrastructure Engineers interact in a highly effective manner with other team members and management, drive innovation, and influence delivery and performance.

We are seeking a Client Hardware Engineer with expertise in laptops, desktops, printers, label printers, conference room technology, and digital signage. This role focuses on identifying and implementing client hardware solutions that meet both functional and non-functional requirements. Responsibilities include non-production testing, QA, and executing proof-of-concepts (POCs) and pilot deployments. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting end-user hardware in dynamic environments. Knowledge of Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms (Airwatch, Intune, SCCM, Soti, etc). This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable and reliable hardware solutions. This position proactively addresses evolving business needs and contributes to architectural strategies. The candidate must be a problem solver and innovative thinker, capable of providing technical leadership.

ROLE
  • Leads/Collaborates the technical evaluation of all hardware and infrastructure and makes recommendations, sources quotes, and the preparation of paperwork.
  • Implements practices, processes, and procedures consistent with Costco's information security policy and IT standards.
  • Evaluates vendor hardware recommendations for operations reliability.
  • Ensures that proposed and existing systems are aligned with organizational standards, goals, and objectives.
  • Designs and develops client-based technology solutions to meet business use cases and needs.
  • Evaluates and tests new client hardware and operating systems.
  • Partners with Operations, IT, and third-party vendors to understand business problems and help solve them.
  • Researches, analyzes, and recommends changes required for the growth and support of Costco's overall modernization directives and strategies.
  • Recommends and implements security configurations for device roles while balancing established security standards.
  • Develops, integrates, and supports client automation tools that increase productivity and efficiencies for deployment and support teams.
  • Coordinates cross-departmental projects with several project team members.
  • Provides guidance on issues escalated from support and deployment teams.
  • Provides concise and compelling status reports on initiatives and projects to all applicable stakeholders.
  • Stays current and informed with technology trends and innovations with a focus on the retail industry.
  • Regular and reliable workplace attendance at your assigned location.

REQUIRED
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in the following IT function areas:
    • PC/Servers/Thin Clients; hardware, Windows, macOS and Chrome operating systems.
  • Digital signage for content delivery.
  • AV conference room experience.
  • Experience with MDM (Mobile Device Management) Tools (e.g, AirWatch, Intune, Soti, Google Admin Panel).
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to mentor, train, and motivate team members.
  • Ability to see the big picture and identify interdependencies with systems, applications, and use cases.
  • Experience with work breakdown structure, outlining technical project plans, and providing updates.
  • Ability to effectively perform testing (unit, system, and integration testing) of device hardware and applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience creating and giving presentations.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Detail-oriented and possess strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze a situation for potential problems.
  • Highly responsive with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Responsible, conscientious, and possess a passion for excellence.

  • Willing to travel, work evenings, and Holidays as needed and able to provide 7x24 on-call coverage.

  • Knowledge of routing, switching, wireless, and LAN networking.
  • Understanding of Costco's use case scenarios and core business environment related to Depot, Warehouse, Manufacturing Operations, and Costco Logistics.
  • Printing Platforms: laser, pallet tag, wired, wireless.
  • Innovative, creative, and intellectually inquisitive nature with the ability to be open-minded to varying opinions.
  • Experience in scripting in PowerShell.
  • Experience leveraging REST API scripting for task automation.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.
  • Successful internal candidates will have spent one year or more on their current team.
