Technical Writer (Procurement)

General Characteristics

• The contract writer will be responsible for drafting and reviewing documentation related to, but not limited to, procurement activities such as purchase orders, service agreements, vendor contracts, modifications, and amendments.
• They will create contract documentation, including the development of the scope of services, performance requirements, and terms and conditions. They will develop language that defines the delivery, service, quality, and pricing for services or products procured.
• The writer ensures that language is clear and consistent, coordinating with all business units and stakeholders to make sure all protocols, procedures, and requirements are developed in accordance with the Department s needs.
• Tasks also include maintaining an internal documentation library, providing or coordinating special documentation services as required, and overseeing special projects as needed.
• The position requires strong organizational and project management skills, along with excellent writing and editing abilities. The contract writer must be able to develop new contractual language based on business needs rather than relying solely on templates.

Dimensions

• Education: Bachelor s Degree in Legal Studies, Technical Writing, Business Administration, or another related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Experience: Minimum of five years of business or technical writing experience, with a working knowledge of procurement processes and documentation.
• Complexity: Intermediate professional-level role. Works on several moderately complex to complex document management projects as a project team member. May coach more junior staff.
