Role Overview
As a Data Center Operations Technician, you will be a primary resolver for the support team. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving complex hardware infrastructure issues. You will create and maintain documentation on supported technologies, pass knowledge to junior staff, and perform remote system administration tasks. You are expected to work autonomously, execute small projects, and act as an initial escalation point for junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, lay out, and install networking solutions including routers, modems, switches, and cabling (fiber, coax, ethernet).
- Provide full-cycle technical support for deployed solutions, including triaging, diagnostics, troubleshooting, break/fix, and implementation.
- Document all completed tasks and collaborate with the team as needed.
- Perform hands-on server maintenance.
Required Qualifications
Experience:- 1+ year of professional hands-on experience with computer hardware, such as in a desktop support or data center capacity.
- Experience with hands-on server maintenance is required.
- Knowledge of networking solutions and cabling for support purposes.
- Familiarity with commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Education:- An associate's degree in a related area is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA A+ certification.
- Previous experience in a Geek Squad ARA or Data Center role.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position in Sterling, VA. Candidates should be open to working a 4-day week, with shift options for Day (7:30 AM - 5:30 PM) or Swing (10:30 AM - 9:00 PM), and schedules of either Sunday-Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday.
