Mindbank Consulting Group is seeking a highly experienced Cloud Computing Application Architect for a fully remote opportunity (work must be performed within the United States). In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and modern cloud solutions supporting Public Health data modernization initiatives.
This is a direct hire, full time position with comprehensive and competitive benefits paying up to $140K. Candidates must be US Citizens or US Permanent Residents who are eligible to obtain a Public Trust via a government background investigation.

In this role, you ll architect, optimize, and guide the delivery of cloud-based platforms that enable more effective data sharing, analytics, and decision-making across Public Health networks.
You ll apply your expertise in enterprise cloud design, automation, and migration to modernize legacy systems and enhance interoperability. This role is ideal for an architect who thrives on technical leadership, mentoring teams, and solving complex cloud transformation challenges that directly advance national Public Health outcomes.
Responsibilities Do you already have similar professional experience?
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable cloud architectures that enable Public Health data modernization.
- Architect and deploy enterprise applications and services in AWS and hybrid environments.
- Partner with data modernization teams to align cloud strategies with mission priorities and technical standards.
- Lead and advise engineering teams through cloud migrations, environment builds, and modernization initiatives.
- Develop and enforce best practices for security, automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure performance.
- Guide development of applications using .NET, Entity Framework, and SQL across cloud and on-premise systems.
- Build and optimize IaaS and PaaS environments, ensuring compliance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Research and recommend emerging cloud technologies to improve scalability and resilience.
- Mentor team members in architecture design, automation, and cloud operations best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS The following is required in order to be considered for this role.
- US Citizen or US Permanent Residents only for this government contract.
- BS in Computer Science or similar.
- Minimum of 9 years professional experience designing, configuring, and administering enterprise applications in cloud and hybrid environments.
- 5+ years hands-on development experience utilizing a combination of tools such as .NET 6/7/8, ASP.NET Core MVC / Web API; Entity Framework Core, LINQ, Dependency Injection; SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL in cloud-managed databases (RDS, Azure, SQL, etc.)
- Proven experience architecting and deploying scalable solutions in AWS utilizing a combination of tools such as: EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, CloudFront, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with hybrid-cloud integration using VPN/Direct Connect/Transit Gateway for connectivity to on-prem systems.
- Strong background in security and compliance, including each: Encryption at rest/in transit (KMS, ACM, TLS); Identity & Access Management (IAM roles, policies); Vulnerability scanning and patch management automation.
- Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools: GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins; Automated testing (xUnit/NUnit); Infrastructure provisioning via Terraform or CloudFormation
- Proficiency with Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, and application troubleshooting.
- Experience with API-driven integrations, microservice communication patterns, and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS).
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, communicate architectural decisions effectively, and provide mentorship to engineers and developers.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with cloud cost optimization and governance frameworks using AWS Budgets, Cost Explorer, or Azure Cost Management.
- Familiarity with CDC systems, processes, data modernization initiatives, and federal IT compliance environments.
- Knowledge of data analytics, data pipelines, or data lake architectures using AWS Glue, Athena, or Redshift.
- Experience modernizing monolithic applications to microservices using domain-driven design (DDD) and event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on experience integrating containerized workloads with AWS fargate, EKS, or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Experience with cross-cloud integrations (AWS <-> Azure) using API gateways or data synchronization pipelines.
