Position Summary

As part of the Finance Technology & Software Development Engineering organization, you will be expected to participate with and lead a high performing team of mainframe, legacy and Java/Angular full-stack engineers and engineers.

You are expected to be proficient in all critical functions of the application development and lead/guide the team throughout the software development life cycle operations, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment. This role is crucial for ensuring the successful completion of IT initiatives and driving innovation within the engineering team.

What you will do:
  • Lead development team consisting of various levels of engineers primarily focused on providing guidance, mentorship, and achieving company's business objectives.
  • Set technical direction and strategy for the team aligning with organizational goals.
  • Manage large cross functional projects and collaborate with multiple partners, aligning priorities, resolving conflicts, and maintaining productive relationships.
  • Plan, organize and execute software development projects from inception to delivery.
  • Participate in technical solutions, provide technical guidance and timely delivery.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, technical documentation, and project plans. Research and evaluate the latest software development technologies, methodologies, and industry trends, capitalizing on innovative technology solutions and integrating best options.
  • Define and refine delivery processes, disaster recovery plans, and release plans.
  • Develop and implement strategies to drive technical excellence and innovation. Ensure the team adheres to best practices, quality standards, and industry trends.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
  • Hire future talent, provide coaching to existing talent, performance reviews, and foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes continuous learning opportunities.
  • Manage staffing and budgeting.
  • Perform capacity planning for the team as well as high level project estimates.
  • Communicate to business leaders of any abnormalities.
  • Provide oversight of scheduled releases to ensure stability and accuracy.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience with Information Technology including strong understanding of engineering frameworks and tools, application development, support roles, and management of specialized engineers.
  • 7+ years of experience and strong knowledge in Mainframe technologies: COBOL, JCL, VSAM, Easytrieve, REXX, IAM, ICEMAN, ICETOOL, DFSORT, File-Aid, Expeditor, Utilities, Control-M.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development life cycle.
  • 7+ years of experience working in a team environment and client interfacing skills.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Unix, Informatica, TIDAL scheduling.
  • 7+ years of experience working with enterprise solution delivery in a large-scale distributed software design environment, preferably in a Java development environment.
  • 6+ years of experience with frontend development including Angular.
  • 6+ years of experience implementing REST services with Java and Spring Boot.
  • 6+ years of experience working in an Agile-based development environment and using Agile concepts such as Continuous Integration (CI/CD).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong past hands on development experience with Angular (version 15+), Java, Spring Boot, and relational databases.
  • Familiarity with AKS, Google Cloud Platform or similar container orchestration platforms.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Docker and GitHub for streamlined deployment.
  • Debugging and performance optimization techniques.
  • SAP S4 experience.

Education

Bachelors or equivalent experience.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$130,295.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
