Job Details

The Lead Software Developer will be responsible for developing, testing, and deploying
software solutions to help primarily X-ray/VCT, Assisted Defect Recognition (ADR), and VCT
Remote Read for inspection of turbine blades in TAVS manufacturing shops. In this role, you will
work closely with team members from GE Aerospace Research, manufacturing shops,
inspection experts to identify software needs, build solutions to improve overall inspection
processes. Additionally, this role will own/industrialize the software that is being developed by
GE Aerospace Research for VCT Inspection, data movement, data management, and ADR and
ensure that it can be supported and scaled up to multiple shops. This role requires a strong
technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively with key
stakeholders across multiple teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
Lead software developer for the production implementation of inspection data
management tools and ADR software used for inspection of HPT blades
Design, test, validate, and deploy software solutions for inspection methods in shops
Collaborate with TAVS shops to identify inspection data management needs, and digital
inspection tools and develop solutions as needed
Create and maintain software for the data transfer protocols (e.g. DICONDE data for
VCT and other data types)
Oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to
deployment
Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources
Ensure adherence to best practices in software development, including coding
standards, testing and documentation
Optimize software for performance and reliability in production
Address and resolve software defects and issues promptly
Implement data analytics and reporting tools to support X-ray/VCT and ADR processes
Provide training and support to shop users (Quality, Level II inspectors etc.)
Support TAVS shops with on-going inspection software development projects,
mentorship, troubleshooting and problem solving
Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at
decisions
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
Implement continuous improvement practices to enhance software functionality and
performance

Required Qualifications

Bachelor s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or
a related discipline from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 4 years for experience in C++ including the STL, templates, lambdas, parameter packs, threading and signaling and Python
OpenCL (preferred) or CUDA
Building open source c++ libraries with CMake and other build tools
Knowledge of image processing, signal processing, and computer vision techniques
Experience with database management systems such as SQL or mySQL
Building and deploying docker containers (Ubuntu)

Desired Characteristics
Familiarity with DICONDE standards, and data management protocols
Experience with X-ray/VCT inspection techniques and ADR
Experience in industrializing software for production use
Experience with manipulating 3D data sets
Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects and be able to work both independently
and as a leading productive member of a cross-functional team
