System Support Specialist - Naperville, IL - Full time perm $70-80K plus $5K bonus

Our client in Naperville, IL is looking to hire a System Support Specialist

They are 4 days onsite and 1 remote for now.  They can work in the office Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday. They will eventually go back 5 days a week. 

There are 750 computers for the users.  All workstations are HP.  The weekly on call rotation will be for 1 week on every 6 weeks.  The average number of calls that come in are maybe 1 after hours per day. 


  • VMWare and Citrix is used for the virtual environments. 
  • They will set up AV equipment at times as well.
  • They have 350 users. 
  • Windows based shop
  • No Linux
  • User administration is a plus
  • He ideally would like to see someone with PowerShell.  If they have this, than you can send them up to 90K on a base.
  • BS degree s a nice to have
  • He does not want to see contractors or people with short stints on the resume.
  • Analytical thinker
  • They will be 50/50 between desktop support and computer operations.
  • They are using Active Batch for processing.  They process 1800-200 files from Wells Fargo, Merrill Lynch, etc. They will be responsible for timely responses on active batches.
  • They need to be very polished since they are personal support for the CEO.
  • They will be setting up new phones on the front end by adding them to the system and putting them on the desk.  They are using Cisco Call Manager and remote offices they use a cloud based solution.


The Systems Support Specialist is responsible for installing and supporting standard and nonstandard desktop hardware and software technology (computers, printers, software, etc.).  This position will be responsible for supporting our user’s computer needs, troubleshooting computer related and peripheral, audio visual systems, conference rooms, and other duties as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities:

Receives and accurately records details of problems called into the Help Desk to include status and resolutions to problems.

Coordinates the operations within the television studio and responds to any issues (Internal training on broadcast systems will be provided).

Handles PC setups and configurations in a timely manner.
Documents nonstandard configurations and installation instructions.
Installs desktop computer hardware and software including upgrades.
Provides first and second-level support in the following areas: PC software applications, desktop hardware, network, and data communications; maintains skill level sufficient to provide such support.
Troubleshoots standard and nonstandard desktop hardware problems and coordinates the repair with the appropriate vendor.

Handles support for all internal/remote users and ensures they have the proper PC set up and functionality to do their jobs.

Communicates with System Support Specialists and the Help Desk Manager regarding the status of projects; escalates any issues to the manager.

Handles promotions within the ActiveBatch / Computer Operations environment (Internal training on these systems will be provided).

Provides afterhours support on a 5 weekly rotation for both the helpdesk and computer operations teams.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be detail oriented

A+ or Network+ certification preferred.

3+ years of PC troubleshooting experience.

Must have a good knowledge and understanding of computer hardware and software environments and related systems.

Must be able to interact effectively with end users.

PowerShell experience is a bonus
