Job Details

Position: Video Engineer
Location: In office - based in Denver, CO. While in-office presence is preferred.
Schedule: 4 days per week (10 hour shifts, 11 hours with lunch)
Shifts: Seeking coverage for 2 shifts (We will need an even split of candidates for each shift.

  • Afternoon - 1:00pm - 11:00pm MT

OR

  • Overnight - 10:00pm - 8:00am MT

Contract: 6 months - may be a potential for contract extension up to 18 months

About the Role
The Video Engineer will play a key role in supporting the deployment and stabilization of our Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) environment. This specialized team addresses customer-impacting issues following DAA cutovers, ensuring consistent video service quality and reliability across the network.
In this role, you ll collaborate closely with infrastructure, operations, and field teams to troubleshoot post-cutover video issues, identify recurring patterns, and provide real-time resolution support. You ll be instrumental in ensuring our customers experience seamless service as new DAA systems come online.

You combine strong technical acumen with clear communication, helping ensure smooth DAA deployments and outstanding video service quality for customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a core member of the team, supporting post-cutover video operations and immediate issue resolution.
  • Troubleshoot and restore video service disruptions identified after customers are migrated to the new DAA architecture.
  • Support field engineers and service teams in diagnosing problems related to video transport, encryption, and conditional access.
  • Provide detailed documentation and written resolution summaries within incident tickets to support data-driven improvement initiatives.
  • Identify recurring video-related issues and coordinate with deployment and engineering teams to develop corrective actions.
  • Maintain strong communication across shifts and teams to ensure continuity and consistent operational support.
  • Operate effectively in a dynamic 24/7 environment, adapting to changing workloads and shift coverage as needed.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of network core and transport concepts.
  • Hands-on experience in video or DOCSIS system configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of video transport, encryption methodologies, and conditional access systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and in ambiguous operational scenarios.
  • Proficiency with network monitoring and support applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Process-oriented mindset with strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues efficiently.

Video-Specific Expertise

  • Proficiency with Synamedia DCM/vDCM platforms.
  • Familiarity with Switched Digital Video (SDV) systems, including Synamedia VSRM and CommScope Vertasent.
  • Understanding of video encoding, multiplexing, and transport stream analysis.
  • Experience supporting large-scale video delivery systems in live operational environments.
  • Familiarity with DOCSIS or CMTS operations is a plus but not required.
