Description

Job Summary The Senior Cloud Database Engineer provides operational database services across both cloud (AWS) and on-premises environments, ensuring seamless data flow by designing and maintaining high-performing, secure, and accessible database systems. This role is responsible for resolving database-related incidents within defined SLAs, supporting enterprise-wide database architecture, and driving automation and continuous improvement. With a focus on operational excellence, the engineer collaborates with technical leaders and subject-matter experts while developing expertise in modern database technologies and practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversees and maintains Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL database environments across development, testing, and production stages. Provides support for AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, Redshift), including migrations and ongoing operations, under the direction of senior team members. Contributes to the automation of standard operating procedures (e.g., backups, database refreshes) using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell. Assists in the upkeep and utilization of Terraform/OpenTofu templates for provisioning and configuring database infrastructure. Applies and monitors schema changes using tools like Liquibase, adhering to established standards and practices. Manages database code using GitLab or similar version control systems and actively participates in CI/CD workflows. Supports the integration of centralized authentication mechanisms (e.g., Active Directory, Microsoft Entra) for secure database access. Monitors database performance, health, and availability; assist in troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Facilitates reporting and data transformation using tools such as Microsoft SSRS, QuickSight, Tableau, and SSIS. Collaborates with application developers, BI teams, and senior DBAs; engage in cross-training and mentorship initiatives. Documents procedures, recommend process improvements, and stay informed on emerging database technologies. Participates in on-call rotations as scheduled. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in information technology or an additional 2 years of experience in lieu of degree 5+ years of relevant experience Proficient understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) Advanced experience with AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, Redshift) and cloud migration concepts Advanced experience with RDBMS platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) Intermediate experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell) Intermediate experience with reporting tools (SSRS, QuickSight, Tableau) and ETL (SSIS) Preferred Qualifications Master's degree Proficiency in database change management tools (Liquibase) and centralized authentication (Active Directory, Entra) is a plus

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
