The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Flight Simulation | Labs Mid - Level Software Engineering Manager to join the Flight Simulation | Labs Software group located in Berkeley, MO.

The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic and cohesive management team in a large, cross-functional integrated product team (IPT) developing the modeling and simulation capabilities that enable the cutting-edge capabilities going on today and tomorrow's combat aircraft developed by the Air Dominance Division of the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The ideal candidate will lead the Core Flight Simulation | Labs (FSL) software strategy and team of engineers developing platform agnostic frameworks and tools in an agile, collaborative environment. The Core FSL team is responsible for the frameworks and tools that are common to multiple aircraft programs. A strong software leader will help drive increased commonization across programs. This role will also be responsible for leading Research and Development (R&D) and capital improvement projects across multiple software teams. Additionally, the selected candidate will serve as a business owner on the Agile Release Train (ART). The successful candidate will need to work as part of a cohesive leadership team. Adaptability, the ability to work closely with others, and an open mind are essential attributes of the management team members. Experience in leading teams is required; agile development experience and modeling and simulation or mission systems experience is preferred and highly beneficial.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Manage employees and potentially oversees first level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Software Engineering
  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures, and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives
  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and team members
  • Provides guidance, oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires ship. Ability to obtain a final Secret US Security clearance (Post-Start).

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • 5 or more years of leadership experience, ideally leading software teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a Technical Field
  • 1+ years' experience working on real time Modeling and Simulation and/or Mission Systems products
  • Familiarity/Experience with DevSecOps products and processes
  • Working knowledge of the Scale Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • 1+ years' experience with Earned Value Management

Summary pay range for Mid-Level Manager: $187,000.00 - $253,000.00.
