UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for a BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE DEVELOPER 2 - EPIC COGITO position.
WORK SCHEDULE
100% FTE - 40 hours per week
Day Shift - UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 - 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Working with other BI Developers, Cogito Developers, Analytics Business Analysts, Clinical Informatics, application teams, and customers to gather, analyze, and document reporting requirements, utilizing Epic's Cogito suite of tools to deliver data solutions.
Designing, coding, testing, and maintaining reporting and analytics objects, including extracts, utilizing industry best practices.
Providing production support and responding to help desk tickets related to the BI development tool set and Epic Cogito suite.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Children's University Medical Group and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (a partnership between UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, and Seattle Children's). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
You provide technical guidance to various cross-functional BI stakeholders.
You perform design and code reviews of developed solutions for quality assurance.
You follow ITS Analytics report build standards and change control processes, focusing on enterprise build and long-term system maintenance.
You design and develop metrics, reports, and analyses of intermediate to advanced complexity to drive key business decisions.
You collaborate with team members to develop BI solutions in a proficient and timely manner, consistent with estimates created during design.
You test solutions developed prior to any external reviews or testing.
You maintain a high level of awareness of the current and future BI technologies and best practices and fully understand the various organizational structures of UW Medicine and their unique requirements.
You coordinate with Business Analysts, Data Architects, Structured Quality Language (SQL) Administrators, BI Administrators, and others to understand and document technical requirements, capabilities, and limitations.
You prioritize tasks with guidance from the manager, designated lead, supervisor, or project manager.
You research questions and issues involving Production Reporting solutions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Information Systems, Math, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
Epic certifications in Epic Cogito Fundamentals, Caboodle Data Model Fundamentals, and Clarity Data Model.
Epic certification in either Revenue, Clinical, or Access Data Model. Willingness to earn certifications in Cogito Tools Administration and badges in Cogito SQL Badge, SlicerDicer Custom Build Badge, and Radar SQL Metrics Badge.
Demonstrated experience independently working with Epic Clarity Data Model and reporting for small to medium scale projects.
3 years of experience must include the following:
2+ years of recent healthcare or IT experience.
1+ years of experience with BI reporting tools.
2+ years of experience with SQL, writing complex, highly optimized, queries across large volumes of data, database design, data warehouse design, query performance tuning, and writing stored procedures.
1+ years of experience with Epic Cogito reporting tools (SlicerDicer, SQL Metrics, Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards).
Demonstrated experience working through the complete report development lifecycle for small to medium scale projects.
Strong understanding of BI reporting best practices.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment.
The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed.
Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority.
Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.
The individual in this position must learn many organizational structures and cultures and continually foster collaboration.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
