Job Title: Senior Mainframe Developer

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mainframe Developer with 10+ years of expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level applications on IBM mainframe systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and related mainframe technologies, with proven ability to deliver robust, scalable, and efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.

  • Perform code reviews, debugging, performance tuning, and production support.

  • Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Ensure adherence to software development standards, security guidelines, and compliance requirements.

  • Develop and maintain batch and online processing systems.

  • Create technical documentation, unit test plans, and support system/integration testing.

  • Lead and mentor junior developers, providing guidance on mainframe best practices.

  • Analyze and modernize legacy applications for improved efficiency and integration with distributed systems.

  • Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM.

  • Strong expertise in mainframe debugging and performance tuning tools.

  • Experience in version control tools (Endevor, Changeman, or similar).

  • Knowledge of mainframe utilities (File-Aid, Abend-AID, Expeditor, IDCAMS, etc.).

  • Familiarity with SDLC methodologies (Agile/Scrum/Waterfall).

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Mainframe modernization projects (integration with Java/.NET or cloud platforms).

  • Knowledge of API development, MQ, or web services integration.

  • Exposure to DevOps/CI-CD pipelines in mainframe environments.

  • Prior experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance (BFSI), or Healthcare domains.
