Role: Technical Writer- Arizona-based candidates only

Location: Phoenix, AZ- Hybrid (2 days/week)

Duration: 6-12 Months Contract with possibility of extensions.

Job Description:

  • The person in this role will mainly help create and update policies, standards, and procedures for information security. They will also help with reports, training materials, website content, and other documents.
  • To do this, the Technical Writer will talk with managers, engineers, and other experts to understand how the city's security systems work. Then they will use templates to write clear, simple, and easy-to-understand documents that all city employees can follow.
  • The Technical Writer must make sure everything written follows city rules, laws, and security requirements. Sometimes, this may require extra research.

Responsibilities

  • Write, update, and maintain security documents such as policies, standards, procedures, reports, and user guides.
  • Gather information from technical teams and turn it into clear content.
  • Edit and format documents for both technical and non-technical readers.
  • Help plan and track writing tasks to meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 5 years of technical writing experience.
  • 1 3 years of experience in information security.
  • 3 years of experience writing IT policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of security frameworks like NIST, CIS, or PCI DSS.
  • 5 10 years of experience with advanced Microsoft Office tools.
  • Security+ or similar cybersecurity certifications.
