Job Title: Cloud Platform Engineer
Location: Atlanta,GA (HYBRID)
Duration 6-12 Months
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Platform Engineer to architect, implement, and manage secure and scalable cloud environments. This role requires a hands-on infrastructure expert capable of provisioning compute, storage, and networking resources across cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting our clients as they modernize their IT infrastructure and meet critical business and mission-driven objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement disaster recovery (DR) compliant infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices.
- Package and deploy containerized applications using Helm and Docker within Kubernetes clusters.
- Provision, configure, monitor, and scale cloud infrastructure components, including compute, storage, and networking resources.
- Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities; apply patches and uphold secure DevSecOps principles.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to ensure architectural alignment with enterprise security, scalability, and availability standards.
- Partner with architects and stakeholders to define and implement platform strategies aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Architect and deploy solutions across major cloud providers including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
- Ensure consistency and repeatability of deployments using IaC tools and practices.
- Integrate platform solutions with CI/CD pipelines and container orchestration frameworks (e.g., Kubernetes).
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for platform architecture, configurations, operational procedures, and disaster recovery playbooks.
- Participate in DR drills, validating failover/failback procedures and ensuring compliance with RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) targets.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and automation.
- Proficient in using Helm for managing Kubernetes-based application deployments.
- Experience designing and integrating secure, scalable, and resilient CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of container orchestration, microservices architecture, and DR principles in hybrid and cloud-native environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Practical experience with Kubernetes platforms such as EKS, AKS, GKE, or on-prem Kubernetes distributions.
- Working knowledge of cloud services across AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Perl, or Ruby.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or Splunk.
- Previous participation in disaster recovery planning, failover testing, and post-incident analysis.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working collaboratively in distributed global teams and fast-paced environments.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
