Russell Tobin & Associates is currently seeking an experienced Designer to support our client, a well-known retail brand, at their Manhattan, NY location. Contract: 3-Month Contract, W2 (extension possible)
Location: Hybrid - Manhattan, NY (minimum 3 days onsite/week)
Pay Rate: $30-37/HR W2 (Depending on Experience)


Job Description:

Our client is seeking a proactive and creative Designer to support their activewear team. This individual will focus on delivering brand-right, performance-enhanced styles while collaborating cross-functionally to execute commercial collections that align with business objectives and seasonal direction.


Responsibilities:

  • Design compelling and brand-appropriate styles for activewear collections (sports bras, leggings, jackets, etc.)

  • Execute detailed sketches, tech packs, and construction details using Adobe Illustrator and PLM tools

  • Create accurate BOMs and maintain line sheets in Centric throughout the season

  • Adapt designs based on feedback and fitting sessions; ensure alignment with product strategy

  • Conduct competitor research and trend analysis to inform design decisions

  • Present designs to internal and cross-functional partners with strong communication and visual storytelling

  • Collaborate with merchandising, product development, and marketing teams throughout the design lifecycle

  • Attend fittings to assess and improve fit and functionality

  • Manage multiple deadlines while maintaining design excellence and meeting calendar commitments

  • Mentor and support junior design talent as needed


Requirements:

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor s degree in Fashion Design or related field

  • 4-5+ years of apparel design experience in an intermediate-level role

  • Strong understanding of activewear, including both knit and woven garment construction

  • Advanced Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Creative Suite skills

  • Experience in Centric or similar PLM system

  • Ability to manage workload in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Excellent attention to detail, creative thinking, and execution

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills; collaborative and communicative team player
