Senior Datacenter Engineer
Client: Byteworks

Location Atlanta, GA Hybrid but prefer onsite/locals
Job Summary
The Senior Datacenter Engineer will lead implementation and support efforts for enterprise datacenter environments, including virtualization, storage, server infrastructure, backup and recovery, and hybrid cloud solutions. This engineer is expected to operate with minimal oversight, maintain deep expertise across a broad set of datacenter technologies, and be adept at documentation and collaboration within a high-performance team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in environments using VMware, NetApp, Veeam, enterprise servers (Cisco, Dell, HPE), Active Directory, and optionally hyperconverged and cloud platforms such as Nutanix, Azure, or AWS.
Responsibilities
Collaborate in pre-sales solution design, including contributing to customer conversations and project scoping.
Support Statement of Work (SOW) creation and proposal development with accurate technical content.
Implement post-sales datacenter solutions, including full documentation and customer knowledge transfer.
Act as an escalation point for complex systems-related support tickets, contributing to root cause analysis and long-term resolution.
Mentor and support junior team members, providing guidance on technologies and processes.
Maintain professional, clear communication both internally and with clients.
Participate in setting and achieving individual and team professional development goals.
Contribute to the development of internal best practices, templates, and documentation standards.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior systems engineering role; ideally 8 10 years in IT infrastructure support or implementation.
Proficiency with a majority of the following technologies:
Virtualization: VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter
Storage: NetApp (Clustered ONTAP), iSCSI/NFS/SAN fundamentals
Servers: Cisco UCS, Dell PowerEdge, or HPE ProLiant
Backup/Recovery: Veeam Backup & Replication
Directory Services: Active Directory administration and troubleshooting
Hyperconverged Infrastructure: Nutanix (preferred but not required)
Public Cloud: Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to perform under pressure in mission-critical environments.
Strong documentation skills with the ability to produce network/system diagrams, project documentation, and standard operating procedures.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
Ethical conduct and professionalism in dealing with peers, supervisors, customers, and partners.
Professional certifications (e.g., VCP, MCSE, Nutanix NCP, AWS/Azure certs) are a plus but not required.
Must be able to accommodate a moderate amount of travel, anticipated to be less than 20%
