Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Healthcare Data Conversion Developer to join our team in supporting the migration of clinical and administrative data from legacy EMR systems into Epic. This role is critical to ensuring data integrity, continuity of care, and compliance during large-scale EHR transitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, extract, transform, and load (ETL) healthcare data from various EMR systems (e.g., Allscripts, Cerner, Meditech) into Epic.
- Collaborate with clinical, technical, and vendor teams to understand data structures, workflows, and mapping requirements.
- Develop and maintain scripts, tools, and processes for data conversion using Epic's Data Courier, Chronicles, Clarity, and Caboodle environments.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and completeness of migrated data.
- Document conversion logic, data dictionaries, and transformation rules.
- Support go-live activities, including mock conversions, cutover planning, and post-migration troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other data privacy and security regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in healthcare data conversion or integration.
- Hands-on experience with Epic data structures and tools (Identity, Chronicles, Clarity, Caboodle, Bridges, or Data Courier).
- Proficiency in SQL, scripting languages (Python, PowerShell), and ETL tools.
- Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, CCD, and other healthcare interoperability standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic certification in Data Conversion, Bridges, or Clarity.
- Experience with multiple EMR systems and understanding of clinical workflows.
- Knowledge of data governance and master data management in healthcare settings.
