Title: System Integration Engineer
Location: Location: Hybrid Onsite in Santa Ana, CA or Rosemead, CA.
Duration: 12-month contract (Minimum 1 year (with potential for multi-year engagement))
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our client is seeking a System Integration Engineer to support the rollout of new features within their outage management and grid management systems. While domain-specific experience in utilities is not required, the engineer must be strong in backend development and capable of enabling system-to-system communication via API integrations.
This role centers on integrating complex backend systems using Java, with a heavy focus on Spring Boot microservices. You ll be contributing to large-scale enterprise platforms, ensuring seamless interoperability across various software systems through robust backend architecture and integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop backend services using Java and the Spring Boot microservices framework.
Design and implement API integrations to ensure smooth data and communication flows between systems.
Execute unit and integration testing for reliability and quality assurance.
Leverage Kubernetes and related container tools for deployment and scalability.
Monitor and troubleshoot systems using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK Stack, and Jaeger.
Integrate messaging and event-driven components using Kafka.
Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, Docker Registry, SonarQube, and more.
Collaborate cross-functionally in an Agile environment.
Support and/or implement complex integration projects. Technical Skills Required:
Strong backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
Deep understanding of API architecture and backend API implementation.
Experience working on backend-only systems (no frontend/UI work).
Proficiency in SQL, Splunk, system documentation, and integration logic.
Familiarity with Kubernetes, containerized environments.
Hands-on with Kafka or similar messaging systems.
Monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Jaeger). Familiar With:
CI/CD and automation pipelines: Jenkins, GitHub, Docker, SonarQube, JIRA.
Familiarity with Agile development process. Soft Skills & Expectations:
Strong team player with clear communication (Teams/Zoom and in-person).
Comfortable facing challenges with vendors and third-party integrators.
Able to adapt quickly and learn new technologies.
Clear, structured communicator both written and verbal. Additional Notes:
The engineer will support backend integrations across multiple systems as part of larger platform initiatives (e.g., grid modernization, outage systems) no domain experience required, but must understand the importance of reliable backend integrations.
Strong emphasis on Java + Spring Boot and backend APIs no frontend work.
