Job overview and responsibilities

The Data Science Analyst will support the measurement, analytics and insight generation for global employee communication programs delivered across multiple channels (e.g., intranet, email, employee information display screens, etc.) and content types (i.e. written, video, etc.).

This role will apply quantitative and qualitative advanced analytical techniques - including sentiment, descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analyses - to assess effectiveness, identify opportunities for optimization, and tell a holistic story of performance. The Applied Data Science Analyst will work with both big and small, structured and unstructured data, translating complex technical findings into clear, actionable business insights that inform strategy and execution.

Partnering closely with the Senior Manager, Measurement & Analytics, this role will help drive data-informed decision making, develop scalable approaches, and help evolve how employee communications performance is measured and optimized.

This is a Chicago-based, hybrid position requiring two days in office weekly.

  • Analysis, Insights & Visualization:
    • Design, develop, and evolve measurement frameworks to assess the effectiveness of employee communication campaigns across channels and content types
    • Apply multiple advanced analytical techniques (e.g., statistical analysis, predictive modeling, sentiment analysis, A/B testing analysis) to regularly evaluate and adjust baselines, trends, and drivers of engagement.
    • Build and maintain scalable, insight-driven data products (e.g., reports, dashboards, models, and visualizations) that enable stakeholders to understand performance and take action
    • Synthesize structured and unstructured data (e.g., engagement metrics, survey responses, sentiment signals) into cohesive insights that inform strategy and decision-making
    • Analyze key performance drivers across email, web, and intranet channels to diagnose performance issues and recommend optimization strategies
    • Regularly evaluates and adjusts models to ensure peak performance, leveraging A/B testing and other validation techniques to refine predictive outputs
    • Builds full-cycle analytics reports, and dashboards using SQL, R, Python, and/or other scripting and statistical tools
  • Data Preparation:
    • Partner with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to define analytical requirements, success metrics, and data needs that are aligned to the business communication objectives
    • Support the development of data pipelines, analytical workflows, and production standards to ensure database optimization, and data accuracy, process scalability, and overall efficiency
    • Evaluate, recommend, and help implement analytics platforms, tools, and features that enhance measurement capabilities and enable more advanced analysis
    • Establish best practices for data governance, documentation, and reproducibility within employee communications analytics
  • Modeling & Algorithm Development:
    • Develops and iterates on machine learning models, from quick prototypes to production deployment
    • Manage, optimize and potentially develop new models in R Studio, leveraging statistical methods and scalable data solutions
    • Applies advanced data engineering practices to improve data processing efficiency and integration across platforms
  • Innovation & Thought Leadership:
    • Stay current on advanced analytics, employee communications, and marketing measurement trends, while identifying opportunities to apply new approaches
    • Contribute to a culture of experimentation, learning, and evidence-based decision-making across the team
    • Document AI models, methodologies and processes, ensuring that best practices are followed and shared within the team, and the broader organization
