Honeybee Robotics Exploration Systems:

Honeybee Robotics, a Blue Origin Company, has been at the forefront of robotics for over 40 years, establishing ourselves as pioneers in developing novel exploration systems for the most extreme planetary environments. Our Exploration Systems team located in Southern California, looks to "Touch Life" by supporting planetary science, including every NASA Mars rover since Spirit and Opportunity. We aim to "Mine the Sky" through the development of practical In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) solutions. Mechanical Engineering Intern with Exploration Systems Team:

As a part of a hard-working team, you will help us meet our goals by supporting the design, development, fabrication, and testing of various mechanical and electromechanical systems. You will have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience and make a tangible, positive contribution to our product development efforts.

During your internship experience, you can expect to:
  • Gain exposure to the design life cycle.
  • Receive feedback from managers.
  • Participate in events to learn about other parts of our organization.
  • Attend social gatherings.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with at least one quarter or semester of degree related coursework remaining after the internship concludes.
  • Completed at least one year of full-time coursework post high school graduation at the time of application (obtained sophomore standing).
  • Available to work full time for 12 weeks while not concurrently enrolled in coursework.
  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and social skills.
  • Strong interest in space.
  • Willingness to learn.


Desired: If you have any experience with the following, please be sure to include it on your resume.
  • Relevant internship/co-op and/or academic project experience that demonstrates development of both technical skills as well as leadership qualities.
  • End-to-end hands-on project experience (design, build test).
  • Experience with CAD modeling.
  • Experience with data processing.

The compensation for on-site CA applicants is $28.67 an hour. We also offer housing and relocation support.
