An Important Note about Wayfair's In-Office Policy and Salary:

Please note that this is a hybrid role based in Boston, MA and will require you to work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

The salary range for this position is $159,500 - $176,000 per year. The base salary offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Restricted stock units will also be provided as part of the compensation package.

The Route Inputs and Transit Network team, a vital part of Orchestration and Planning Tech (OPT), is dedicated to optimizing and managing delivery routes to ensure efficient and cost-effective fulfillment operations. We utilize C#, Python and Javascript as the primary programming languages, Kafka and PubSub for data streaming, REST and GRAPH QL for APIs and other supporting technologies on Google Cloud platform.
What You Will Do:
  • Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient backend services and APIs using Java, ensuring high performance and responsiveness for millions of users.
  • Develop and optimize database queries, schema designs, and data models to support complex, large-scale applications.
  • Write thoughtful, scalable, reusable, well tested and performant frontend code using frameworks such as React and Next
  • Work closely with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and other stakeholders to define and implement technical solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Write clean, scalable, and well-tested code, ensuring systems are resilient, secure, and maintainable.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in full stack development, and actively contribute to improving the architecture and development processes.
  • Lead and mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and help establish best practices in software engineering across the team.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex issues, ensuring the stability and reliability of the systems.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process, including the implementation of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
What you bring to the table
  • 7-9 years of experience in Software Engineering with a focus on designing and building scalable backend-heavy platforms as a Fullstack Developer.
  • Proficient in debugging, testing, and delivering high-quality code with strong attention to detail.
  • Skilled at collaborating with product managers and designers to define, scope, and deliver features iteratively.
  • Deep experience building and decoupling microservices from monolithic architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with event streaming platforms or message queues like Kafka.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, BigQuery).
  • Proficiency in C# and Python is required
  • Proficient in a modern frontend framework (ReactJS preferred).
  • Experienced in horizontally scalable distributed systems using Kubernetes on hybrid cloud setups.
  • Familiar with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Buildkite, Jenkins) and observability tools like DataDog and Grafana.
  • Strong communicator, team collaborator, and advocate for code reviews, retrospectives, and test automation best practices.
