    AWS Cloud Database Administrator (Job Number: 2308127 )

    As a Penske Database Administrator, you will manage, maintain, and optimize relational databases hosted on AWS, including MySQL, Postgres, and Greenplum.

    In addition to advanced knowledge of relational databases, candidates must have advanced knowledge of Postgres, MySQL, and Aurora RDS. It would be a plus if the candidate possessed the following:
    • AWS (Cloud) experience or certifications (Solutions Architect Associate, Developer Associate, or SysOps Admin Associate)
    • Experience Linux/Unix shell scripting
    • Experience working with relational Databases
    • Experience working with Time-series Databases is a plus
    • Experience in Geospatial is a plus

    This position can sit out of our corporate headquarters in Reading, PA or our IT Center in Tampa, FL.

    Penske Responsibilities:
    • Be the primary contact and lead database support associate for multiple critical applications and processes, resolving customer issues in a timely manner.
    • Design databases and monitor/support database performance across multiple platforms.
    • Perform database backups and set up/support recovery efforts.
    • Migrate and upgrade databases as necessary.
    • Ensure and enforce database security.
    • Support application deployments and regular disaster recovery tests..
    • Review database schema design and create objects per appropriate design requirements.
    • Document and communicate database standards and best practices.
    • Participate in regular capacity planning and contribute to the overall database roadmap.
    • Adhere to Penske's change management practices ensuring database software license agreements
    • Help with SQL query tuning and Triaging application performance issues.
    • Perform root cause analysis of issues and communicate to appropriate stakeholders.
    • Assign projects and review deliverables from onshore and offshore junior DBAs.
    • Provide constructive input to department management regarding team members assigned to the project

    • Cloud Formation - Automation: Installation, Configuration
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent years of software development experience required
    • 5 years of hands-on DBA experience, including database design and implementation required
    • AWS certification is a huge plus
    • 3 Years of Postgres experience, Familiar with PostgreSQL Table Partitioning
    • 5 years of Experience working with database technologies such as Oracle (12c and up)/MySQL/AWS RDS/Postgres required
    • 3 years of Experience in data modeling and profiling
    • Experience building and supporting databases on-premise and cloud for physical and virtual environments.
    • Strong Experience in independently configuring and supporting multiple enterprise-wide complex databases
    • Strong Experience in managing 24 by 7 schedules with set SLAs.
    • Strong Experience in database performance tuning, clustering, capacity planning, automated backup/recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
    • Knowledge of supporting data warehouses, data marts, and operation data store architecture and solutions.
    • Understanding of networking concepts applicable to database support and monitoring.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and assignments simultaneously in a cross-functional team environment
    • Solid written and oral communication skills; ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
    • Ability to work independently and direct work to other team members.
    • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
