Description: Software Engineer (Contingent Workforce) - West Des Moines, IAAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Software Engineer to join as a contingent resource. In this role, you will contribute to software development initiatives of low to moderate complexity. You will work within an agile engineering team to implement, test, and maintain high-quality software solutions while adhering to established architectural, security, and operational standards.
This position is an individual contributor role that operates under the guidance of senior, lead, and principal engineers. You will execute well-defined tasks, resolve defects, participate in code reviews, and continuously develop technical proficiency. More complex design or architectural decisions will be escalated to more senior team members.
What You'll Do- Participate in delivery of software features and enhancements with low to moderate complexity.
- Analyze technical challenges, evaluate solution options, and recommend improvements for engineering processes.
- Contribute to code development, testing, debugging, and documentation using modern programming practices.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, product owners, and cross-functional partners in an agile environment.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Apply engineering policies, procedures, security controls, and compliance requirements.
- Provide technical information and support to internal client teams.
- Escalate higher-risk or more complex technical issues to senior engineers for guidance.
Minimum Qualifications- 2+ years of professional Software Engineering experience, or equivalent experience gained through consulting, training, military service, or education.
- Location: West Des Moines, Iowa.
Preferred Skills & Experience- 2-4+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
- Practical experience with one or more of the following:
- Java, Spring Boot
- JavaScript/TypeScript, React, or Node.js
- Building and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices
- Experience working with Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines.
- Foundational knowledge of cloud-native concepts or containerized applications (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Exposure to automated testing, unit testing, and basic quality engineering practices.
