Position: Network Engineer III
Terms:
6 month contract to hire
Location: Hybrid (Dallas Texas) (3 days a week onsite - MWTh or TuThF) - first 60 days - 100% onsite
Client: UT Southwestern

Start: ASAP
Interview: 2 rounds (screening and then a panel)


Notes: This is your standard Network Engineer III but they are looking for someone with BGP and/or Cisco ACI experience.

Position Overview

The Network Engineer III designs, implements, and maintains secure campus-wide network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, and WAN-connected sites. They provide expertise in network security, capacity planning, and technology evaluation, while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The role coordinates with cross-functional teams and participates in on-call rotations and network change windows to support ongoing operations.


Required Skills:

  • 5+ years of network engineering experience
  • 8+ years of professional IT experience since graduation w/ Bachelors
  • Recent hands on experience with BGP, OSPF, EIGRP routing and Cisco network configuration
  • Recent hands on experience with Cisco ACI, SDN, and network virtualization
  • Experienced in network automation with Python/Perl and tools like Ansible or Puppet
  • Experienced in network security, firewalls, VPNs, and monitoring tools (Solarwinds, AKIPS)
  • On-call availability - once every 10 weeks
