Overview
We are seeking a SharePoint professional-either a developer or configurator-to lead the consolidation of two existing intranet sites into a single, well-structured SharePoint environment. One of the current intranets is a legacy SharePoint site with poor architecture, while the other resides in Igloo (a SaaS-based intranet platform).
Project Background
Our organization currently maintains two intranet platforms:
- A SharePoint-based site with a legacy, loosely structured architecture
- An intranet hosted within Igloo, a SaaS-based "intranet-in-a-box" solution
The objective is to merge these environments into a single, well-structured SharePoint site that emphasizes clear navigation, design consistency, and effective content organization. While this initiative will include some cleanup of existing content, the primary goal is thoughtful migration and modernization, not simple content transfer.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business area owners to gather requirements, review existing content, and determine what should be migrated or restructured.
- Plan and execute the migration of content and artifacts from both existing sites into a unified SharePoint intranet.
- Ensure the new site emphasizes content organization, consistent page design, and usability, rather than automation or advanced custom development.
- Perform light cleanup and reorganization of content as needed to improve clarity and accessibility.
- Configure SharePoint components (sites, pages, navigation, permissions, templates) to support the new intranet structure.
- Develop clear documentation of architecture, processes, and configurations to support ongoing maintenance after the contract ends.
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience with both SharePoint Online configuration and intranet design best practices.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with non-technical stakeholders.
- Skilled in content migration, taxonomy design, and user experience optimization.
- Comfortable balancing technical execution with visual and structural consistency.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Engagement Details:
- Contract position
- Duration and scope to be determined based on assessment
- Expected focus: Content architecture, design consistency, and site configuration (not heavy automation or coding)
