Job Details

The Leidos Innovation Center currently has an opening for a Modeling and Simulation SME. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the AFRL Combat ID advanced research and developments. We perform research-level data analytics to advance the state-of-the-art in advanced machine learning and data fusion applications across multi-modal remote sensing systems on all domain platforms and verify mission improvement through model and simulation analysis to validate new and advanced concepts.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis tasks assessing operational relevance, system survivability, system effectiveness, and overall system performance in engagement and mission-level scenarios.
  • Develop performance models and algorithms, threat models and command and control models for new and/or existing system simulation frameworks
  • Perform high-level software development functions using Python, C++, Java or similar languages including design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs.
  • Collaborate with other experts within the program and in the user community to design, develop, and debug existing software, and to design and develop enhancements that incorporate new capabilities into various components of the existing systems.
  • Responsible for using sound software engineering principles to ensure that developed code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, fault tolerant, and reusable, including providing software process management and control throughout the coding portion of the software development process.
  • Contribute to software development activities as a member of an agile team and actively participate in program increment planning, Feature and Story development, Sprint Planning, Demos, Iteration Retrospectives and related team activities.
  • Provide input to the test report, ensuring that all stated requirements and test objectives have been evaluated and the documented results adequately and accurately reflect the collected data and analysis conducted during the event.
  • Author, design, and apply DOE and Combinatorial Testing (CT) to test case design.
  • Author, design, and apply Statistical Test and Analysis Technique (STAT) to test events.
  • Design and build test STAT/DOE frameworks.
  • Setup, deploy, and operate the STAT/DOE tools for executing test cases.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience
  • Ability to apply M&S expertise through technology processes, methodologies, standards, or frameworks.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying STAT/DOE tools and applying STAT/DOE methodologies in an integrated test environment.
  • Experience creating M&S scenarios of threat, neutral, and friendly aircraft, ground units, surface and subsurface platforms, and their corresponding weapons and subsystems, and their interactions in a realistic theater environment.
  • Proficient in C++ and building solutions with cmake
  • Significant experience and proficiency in Python and MATLAB
  • Familiarity using git, Jenkins, svn, JIRA, or other version control technologies
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Experience programming network connections (message generation, formatting, UDP and TCP/IP interfaces)
  • Creating and running unit test
  • Developing software documentation
  • Working within an Agile team environment, to include Program Increment Planning, Iteration Planning, Feature and Story development, Sprint Planning, and Iteration Retrospectives.
  • Participating in demos for the team and program Sprint reviews

Preferred Qualifications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance
  • Hands-on experience using STAT/DOE tools such as Design Expert, Automated Combinatorial Testing for Software (ACTS), or JMP.
  • Experience developing and/or supporting CI/CD pipelines (Ansible, Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with Gitlab and/or Jira - issue tracking and agile project management, or similar tool
  • Experience using AFSIM and successful completion of AFSIM training
  • Experience performing model verification and validation
  • Previous experience in sensor exploitations such as developing Automatic Target Recognition (ATR), Combat Identification (CID), tracking, detection, fusion, or pattern of life algorithms and/or models
  • Strong understanding of statistics such as Bayesian statistics
  • Strong background in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data science
  • Familiarity with internet of things (IoT) sensing, social network analysis, supply chain analysis, forensic accounting, pattern of life, natural language processing, social media analysis, classification algorithms, and/or image processing
  • Background with multi-statics radar research and development
