Purpose of the role
To monitor the performance of operational controls, implement and manage security controls and consider lessons learnt in order to protect the bank from potential cyber-attacks and respond to threats.

Barclays is seeking a Senior Detection Engineering Analyst to join its proactive cyber operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing cyber detections that safeguard the bank's digital infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with various cybersecurity teams across the organization to monitor the performance of operational controls, implement and ensure security measures by applying lessons learned to strengthen defenses against potential cyber threats. This team plays a critical role in mitigating Barclays' attack surface by addressing new and emerging threats.

Minimum Salary: $125,000
Maximum Salary: $170,000

Purpose of the role
To monitor the performance of operational controls, implement and manage security controls and consider lessons learnt in order to protect the bank from potential cyber-attacks and respond to threats.
Accountabilities
- Management of security monitoring systems, including intrusive prevention and detection systems, to alert, detect and block potential cyber security incidents, and provide a prompt response to restore normal operations with minimised system damage.
- Identification of emerging cyber security threats, attack techniques and technologies to detect/prevent incidents, and collaborate with networks and conferences to gain industry knowledge and expertise.
- Management and analysis of security information and event management systems to collect, correlate and analyse security logs, events and alerts/potential threats.
- Triage of data loss prevention alerts to identify and prevent sensitive data for being exfiltrated from the banks network.
- Management of cyber security incidents including remediation & driving to closure.

- Hands-on Threat Tracking & Countermeasure Development using Enterprise level Security Tooling, including Splunk, Microsoft Defender, and Sentinel analytics rules
- Prior experience with ongoing delivery of detective controls and countermeasures across a range of cyber security tooling to protect the Bank
- The ability to write highly detailed SPL queries with Splunk
- Knowledge using KQL and developing custom detection rules for Microsoft Defender
- Experienced in gathering Threat Intelligence & leveraging the Intelligence Lifecycle to defend an organization
Some other highly valued skills may include:
- Knowledge of cyber kill chain, mitre attack phases, intelligence driven defense, cyber security operations, security architecture
- Ability to identify operational risks and issues in an enterprise level, fast-paced environment
- Prior DevOps or data analytics experience preferred
