Job Description
The Network Engineer will be responsible for planning and implementing networking solutions to support business needs. This includes designing, developing, configuring, installing, supporting, maintaining, and optimizing the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Intranet.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Provide proactive IT Support and network monitoring, performance tuning and testing for potential weakness across multiple secure networks.
  • Participate in group design and product recommendations, evaluations, configurations, etc.
  • Support of local and wide-area network hardware, software and applications to include voice, video, and data cable systems
  • Maintain video conference equipment.
  • Provide after-hours / on-call support duties as required.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with service providers and local vendors.
  • Create high quality network diagrams and documentation.
  • As an Information Technology and Systems team member, you may be asked, as new business needs arise, to accept additional tasks and responsibilities within the department, besides those detailed in this job description.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals as they relate to enterprise networks including but not limited to TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, ARP, SMB/CIFS and DFS.
  • Hands-on experience working with standard cabling technologies such as UTP (5e and 6), Fiber Optic (single mode, multi-mode).
  • Ability to rack and stack network devices including cable management in a Data Center / Server Room environment.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and deploying small and large scale LAN/WAN networks, including wireless networks.
  • Hands-on experience with network monitoring and management tools including SNMP, Syslog, Netflow, RMON, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with Layer 2 switching protocols (STP, HSRP, VLAN, etc).
  • Hands-on experience with Layer 3 routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP).
  • Advanced experience with Cisco ISE for RADIUS, TACACS, NAC, and connectivity troubleshooting
  • Packet capture and analysis experience.
  • Analytic problem solving mindset.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently under aggressive timelines.
  • ESXi Host/VMware virtual network experience a plus.
  • Experience with ITIL, Jira, network automation/scripting a plus.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science or Electrical Engineering) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on technical experience in an enterprise network environment, planning, deploying, and supporting route/switch/firewall solutions.
