Job Description:
Pay Range: $55hr - $60hr
- The Cloud Data Modeler will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining logical and physical data models for cloud-based databases across Azure and Google Cloud Platform environments.
- This role requires strong expertise in data modeling, cloud migration, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure optimized, secure, and scalable database architecture.
- Design and develop logical and physical data models for cloud databases (Azure SQL Database, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Spanner).
- Analyze iSeries (AS/400) data structures including physical/logical files, SQL tables, indexes, and views; create detailed mapping documents for data migration.
- Define and enforce data standards, normalization rules, and naming conventions in line with cloud best practices.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts to interpret business rules and translate them into data models.
- Partner with cloud architects to ensure alignment of models with Google Cloud Platform/Azure architecture, focusing on networking, security, and scalability.
- Design high-performance schemas leveraging cloud-native features such as partitioning, indexing, and materialized views.
- Work with ETL teams to support data transformation and migration using tools like Azure Data Factory, Google Dataflow, or Informatica.
- Maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and version control for data models.
- Document processes, data flows, and architectural decisions.
- Collaborate effectively with onsite and offshore teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in data modeling, database design, and migration projects.
- Strong hands-on experience with relational databases such as Azure SQL, Cloud SQL, and BigQuery.
- Proficiency in data modeling tools (Erwin, ER/Studio, SQL Database Modeler).
- Hands-on experience with cloud migration strategies, data security, and cost optimization.
- Experience with ETL tools (Azure Data Factory, Google Dataflow, Informatica).
- Solid understanding of data governance, compliance, and cloud security principles.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
- Cloud Platforms: Google Cloud Platform, Azure
- Databases: Azure SQL, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, NoSQL (Cosmos DB, Firestore)
- Modeling Tools: Erwin, ER/Studio
- ETL Tools: Azure Data Factory, Google Dataflow, Informatica
- Version Control: Git, Bitbucket
- Collaboration Tools: Jira, Confluence, Slack, Microsoft Teams
- Certifications in cloud platforms or data modeling.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.
- Experience with retail or enterprise-scale applications.
