Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Mechanical Engineer (Hybrid) to join our Defense and Space Systems team in Heath (Columbus), OH where we are expanding in system design, development, integration and test of aircraft, missile, weapons, and autonomous Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC).

The InterContinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Minuteman III Guidance Engineering team is looking for motivated, talented engineers to join this robust long-term program. The selected engineer's product responsibilities will include providing Design Authority engineering change support for a large Test Equipment, Tool, Jig, and Fixture project.

You will provide Design Authority engineering change support for a large Test Equipment, Tool, Jig, and Fixture project on the InterContinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Minuteman III Guidance Engineering team.

Position Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform and document analysis to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Review and maintain mechanical system and component designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards and other design methods; and provide product definition to other engineering groups, repair operations, suppliers, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Perform mechanical engineering layouts, preliminary strength analysis to support trade studies, detailed design, testing requirements, materials, processes, and tools.
  • Support system development, maintenance or modification, and component and installation designs and proposals. Provide design documentation to downstream groups.
  • Support the development and documentation of mechanical system, fluid system, and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design.
  • Contribute to supplier development, test and production activities, and support the supplier in optimizing integration, to achieve program goals
  • Support system component installation and detail documentation.

This position is hybrid, meaning that you will perform some work onsite in Heath, OH. The time worked on site is at the hiring team's discretion and can change.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires ship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • Experience developing and maintaining system requirements, interface definitions and test plans.
  • Experience in mechanical systems design or analysis.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with electrotechnical product testing, Test Equipment (such as oscilloscope, multimeter, DMM, power generator, acceptance testing, qualification test, tools fixture design), design and repair, and guidance systems (GNC).
  • Experience with drawings and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience working with USAF or other government agencies.
  • Experience developing and documenting requirements.
  • Active security clearance.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
