Description

We are looking for an experienced Functional Data Domain Lead - Finance & Accounting to oversee and enhance the management of financial data within our organization. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that financial and operational data is accurate, consistent, and accessible for reporting and decision-making purposes. This position offers an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the Finance and Accounting data domain. This is a long-term contract position based in New York, New York.

Responsibilities:
Lead the development and governance of the Finance and Accounting data domain to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, and Actuarial teams to identify data requirements and align solutions with strategic objectives.
Work closely with IT, Data Engineering, and Architecture teams to design and implement scalable, automated data solutions that meet business needs.
Oversee the integration and management of data flows between financial systems, including general ledgers, sub-ledgers, and consolidation platforms.
Develop and execute a Finance data roadmap to improve analytics capabilities, automation, and integration with enterprise performance management tools.
Partner with FP& A and Accounting teams to ensure alignment in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
Stay updated on the latest advancements in financial data management, analytics, and reporting technologies.
Communicate project updates, risks, and key milestones clearly to stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment.
Apply analytical skills to identify and resolve anomalies in complex financial datasets, fostering data-driven decision-making.
Manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Minimum of 12 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or data-related roles within the financial services or insurance industries.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, including GAAP and STAT, and their application in financial reporting.
Proficiency in Python, SQL, and ETL processes to support data management and transformation.
Hands-on experience with cloud technologies such as AWS and Snowflake for data warehousing and analytics.
Proven expertise in financial planning and analysis processes, including forecasting and variance analysis.
Familiarity with business intelligence and data warehousing tools and practices to support decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to manage financial data governance initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and work with complex datasets.
