Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Biomedical Engineer with expertise in Human Factors Engineering to join our team. With a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering and over 3 years of experience in usability evaluation, you will contribute to optimizing user-centered design in healthcare technology. Your focus will be on reducing cognitive load and improving user experience by applying industry standards and utilizing advanced tools like Figma, SQL, Minitab, and more. Key Responsibilities:
- Usability Evaluations: Conduct heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthroughs, task flow analysis, A/B testing, formative and summative evaluations to identify usability challenges and enhance cognitive safety.
- User Research & Testing: Lead user research initiatives, including diary studies, critical incident techniques, and hierarchical task analysis, to gather insights and inform design decisions.
- Design Optimization: Use Figma to develop and prototype design solutions, applying Human-Centered Design (HCD) and Cognitive Systems Engineering (CSE) principles.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize Minitab and SQL for statistical analysis and data-driven decision-making. Prepare and present reports on usability findings, safety risks, and product improvements.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure compliance with Human Factors Engineering standards such as ISO 9241, IEC 62366, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and ISO 13485, particularly in the context of medical devices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize healthcare systems and reduce user errors through improved user interface and experience design.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in human factors engineering, usability testing, and user research within a healthcare or medical device setting.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Figma for design and prototyping.
- Advanced knowledge of SQL for data analysis.
- Skilled in Minitab for statistical analysis and pattern recognition.
- Familiarity with software testing and usability evaluation methods.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and Visio for reporting and dashboard creation.
- Human Factors Expertise: In-depth understanding of usability frameworks and standards, including SEIPS, HCD, CSE, and HCI.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO 9241, IEC 62366, and FDA 21 CFR Part 820regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on medical devices or in a healthcare-related field.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex user behavior data and translate insights into actionable design solutions.
- Previous experience leading projects from conception to implementation in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
