Job Description:
Data Model Design and Implementation
The individual will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient data models for the Mid Office application. These models must be crafted with a focus on scalability and optimal performance to meet the evolving needs of the business.
Performance Tuning Strategies
Developing and executing strategies for performance tuning is a key responsibility. This covers query optimization, index management, and the continuous enhancement of database performance to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Data Retention and Purging Policies
Creating and maintaining data retention and purging policies is essential. The role involves balancing regulatory requirements with the need for optimal system performance, ensuring compliance while maintaining efficiency.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams is required to align database design with application requirements and overall business objectives. Effective communication and teamwork are vital to ensure that database solutions meet stakeholder needs.
Database Security and Compliance
Implementing and managing robust database security measures is necessary to ensure data integrity and compliance with industry standards. This includes proactively addressing security concerns and adhering to best practices.

Documentation
The role includes developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for database structures, procedures, and best practices. Clear and thorough documentation supports knowledge sharing and continuity within the team.

Requirements and Desired Experience:
At least 7 years of experience in database administration and development, with a minimum of 3 years focused specifically on PostgreSQL.
Proven track record in leading and mentoring database development teams.
Strong understanding of performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
Experience in data modelling and database design within complex, high-transaction environments.
Familiarity with travel industry data structures and processes is advantageous.
Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL, along with experience in using database migration tools.
Knowledge of data retention strategies and compliance requirements relevant to the travel industry.
Experience with database monitoring tools and conducting performance analysis.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex database concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Experience with cloud-based database services, particularly AWS RDS for PostgreSQL, is considered a plus.
