Sr. Field Desktop Support Specialist - Midland, TX (On-Site, Long-Term)

iSphere is seeking a Senior Field Desktop Support Specialist for one of our energy industry clients in the Midland area. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role that combines technical problem-solving with field-level leadership. You ll be the go-to IT contact for your assigned region owning issues from start to finish, ensuring smooth operations, and maintaining the highest standards of customer service.

What You ll Do

Serve as the single point of contact for all IT-related issues in your assigned field area.

Build strong relationships with local operations teams, management, and IT colleagues delivering excellent customer support with a personal touch.

Manage and coordinate infrastructure projects, hardware rollouts, and system upgrades.

Troubleshoot and resolve desktop, laptop, and mobile device issues across multiple platforms.

Maintain an accurate IT asset inventory and ensure all equipment is configured and deployed per company standards.

Provide user training on software, hardware, and IT best practices to boost technical confidence and self-sufficiency.

Document all issues and resolutions in the IT Knowledge Base for team-wide improvement.

Support and promote IT policies, security standards, and operational procedures.

Travel up to 80% of the time within a 3-4 hour driving radius to field locations; some overnight stays may be required.

Provide after-hours and on-call support as needed by field operations.
What You Bring
-
Strong experience supporting and troubleshooting Windows 11, hardware, networking, and mobile devices.

Familiarity with Ivanti, SCCM, ControlUp, LAPS, Splunk, CyberArk, SailPoint, and MFA tools.

Solid understanding of LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi/VPN technologies and network troubleshooting.

Hands-on experience supporting VOIP, MFPs, and field connectivity solutions (Cisco AnyConnect, Client Pro Wireless, WWAN, etc.).

Experience with SCADA, GIS, or other field/engineering applications is a plus.

Proficiency in PowerShell, System Management Tools, and ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow or Remedy.

Strong customer service orientation and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and maintain a clean driving record.
Education & Certifications

Technical or college degree in an IT-related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience accepted.

Minimum 5 years of experience in IT Operations, Infrastructure, and Application Support.

A combination of two or more certifications is highly preferred:
MCSA, MCP, MCITP, A+, Net+, Sec+, ITIL, CCNA, CWNA, or similar.
