Summary:
The Senior Principal, Strategic Initiatives will play a pivotal role in transforming how Penn Medicine makes decisions and drives organizational change. Reporting to the Chief Data & Analytics Officer, this leader will design, facilitate, and lead high-impact transformation initiatives that accelerate progress on the health system's most important priorities.
This position requires a visionary and pragmatic leader who can navigate Penn Medicine's consensus-based culture while building new norms for data-driven decision-making. The Senior Principal, Strategic Initiatives will bring leaders together and create the structures and culture that enable Penn Medicine to act decisively, take smart risks, and drive meaningful change. The Senior Principal must be able to quickly understand clinical, operational, strategic, and technical domains. As a trusted facilitator, this leader will distill complex issues into actionable insights and translate across diverse audiences - from frontline clinicians to senior executives.

Responsibilities:
- Transformation Initiative Leadership Design and facilitate enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, focusing on goal development, problem-solving, data-driven decision making, and stakeholder alignment. Partner with senior executives, physicians, and administrators to define clear objectives, structure initiatives, and drive execution to measurable outcomes. Ensure transformation initiatives incorporate evidence-based frameworks, analytics, and operational realities, while promoting speed and accountability. Serve as a visible leader and facilitator, aligning diverse stakeholders and keeping initiatives focused on results.
- Organizational Performance & Leadership Support Partner with the CDAO and team leadership to monitor PennDnA performance, develop strategy, identify and lead performance improvement initiatives. Take ownership of Penn DnA strategic initiatives and drive execution, including conducting research and analysis and developing decision-making frameworks. Support leaders with goal setting and promote consistent standards across teams, support planning workshops and retreats, and track progress for accountability. Design and facilitate leadership retreats, strategy sessions, and forums that strengthen alignment, collaboration, and innovation within the CDAO's team. Serve as a thought partner to senior leaders within the Data & Analytics organization, providing strategic perspective, facilitation support, and coaching to advance collective success.
- Culture & Change Management Drive cultural change away from reliance on consensus-driven committees toward more empowered, timely, and hierarchical decision-making. Champion delegation of authority to appropriate levels, equipping mid-level and emerging leaders with the skills and confidence to act decisively. Normalize appropriate risk-taking by fostering a safe environment for innovation, experimentation, and learning from outcomes. Develop leadership engagement models and communication strategies that reinforce accountability and decisiveness.
- Decision-Making Resources Promote greater use of data and analytics in executive and operational decision-making. Design governance processes that streamline deliberation and reduce unnecessary delay. Provide frameworks for translating complex clinical, operational, and technical issues into actionable recommendations.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Master of Arts or Science in Healthcare administration, public health, or related field required; advanced degree preferred

- And 10+ years Progressive leadership experience in healthcare, consulting, or related industries. (Required)
