Donor-Advised Fund Accountant

Boston, MA

Core Responsibilities
Accounting

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of general ledger activity, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments for multiple entities.
  • Assist with the preparation of audited financial statements and related Form 990s and coordinate with external auditors and accountants.
  • Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures specific to donor-advised funds and other charitable strategies.
  • Prepare reporting for the Board of Directors and various committees.

Donor Advised Fund Administration

  • Handle day-to-day financial transactions, including processing payments, reconciling accounts and managing cash flows.
  • Manage individual DAF accounting, including tracking contributions, investment income, grant disbursements, accounts payable transactions and processing account level fees
  • Work with the client success team to ensure timely and accurate grant distributions and fund reporting.
  • Assist in implementing technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and data integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with IRS regulations and industry best practices related to donor-advised funds and other charitable strategies.

Skills Qualifications Required:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting and donor-advised fund administration preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Systems/Technical Knowledge:

  • Exposure to large-scale enterprise, financial systems (e.g. SAP)
  • Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Masters degree or CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 4-7 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership roles.
