Senior Systems and Security Administrator

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Senior Systems and Security Administrator is charged with architecting, building, supporting and securing the IT systems of the Firm. This includes support for servers, storage, networking, applications, and IT security in an enterprise environment. The role requires a blend of confident technical skills, a positive and collaborative personality, a strong dedication and sense of responsibility for the day-to-day and the long-term infrastructure, operations and IT security of the Firm. 

The Senior Systems and Security Administrator must understand the use of technology in the practice of law and must be able to quickly and correctly diagnose and resolve infrastructure or end-user functional or technical issues, frequently under critical time constraints. The duties of the position require adherence to the Firm's policies and procedures and the need to maintain the confidentiality of client and firm matters at all times.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Select, scope, recommend, test and implement new IT systems, infrastructure and applications.
  • Multitask and prioritize requests in a complex and diverse production environment.
  • Provide analytical troubleshooting skills to quickly resolve issues with minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with the IT Help Desk where necessary, serving as second or third level escalation point.
  • Partner with the admin functions/legal departments to test new systems and application updates.
  • Share information with Engineering colleagues and Help Desk on new or changing systems/functionality.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation of IT systems and business applications.
  • Work within project teams to meet implementation milestones and deadlines.
  • Manage routine patching and updating of existing systems and applications.
  • Support and provide backfill for other engineers as needed.
  • Develop, share and maintain scripts to automate processes.
  • Available to work non-business hours during maintenance windows or to resolve system issues.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • 6 years in an IT engineering or systems administration role with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • 2 to 3 years of design or 3 to 5 years of maintenance/support work with the following systems in a production environment: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory design and deployment, Group Policy Management.
  • At least 3 years of multi-site LAN/WAN/SD-WAN networking experience in a production environment.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience with selecting, deploying and supporting enterprise InfoSec tools and systems, including endpoint security, enterprise firewalls and IDS/IPS systems.
  • Knowledge and working experience with cyber security standards and frameworks, e.g. NIST, SANS, CIS.

 

DESIRED SKILLS 

  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, SCCM, MDT, VMware/vCenter, Horizon View, PowerShell, Linux, Veeam, AWS or Azure.
  • Experience with regulatory, compliance or auditing processes, e.g. SOX, SOC2, ISO 27001.
  • Working knowledge of Service Management (ITIL) and Project Management (PMBoK) frameworks.
  • Experience gathering and documenting requirements from IT system stakeholders.
  • Experience in the Legal Services industry and with Law Firm applications.

  • Strong IT documentation skills.

  • A continuous learner who maintains knowledge of current industry trends and technologies.
  • Ability to work independently to meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 30 lbs. and is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in confined areas.
  • Flexible and available to work in the office or occasionally at offsite data center/after-hours as needed.
  • Flexibility to work beyond 37.50 hours a week when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate/Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications with Microsoft systems, VMware, ITIL, Project Management or IT security are a strong plus.
